CAPS Quiz helps South African FET-phase learners turn short breaks into exam practice. You get exam-style multiple-choice questions, instant feedback, optional step-by-step Mathematics walkthroughs, and official DBE past papers.

Email us about:

• Sign-in or progress-sync problems
• A question that looks wrong, missing, or badly formatted
• Crashes, blank screens, or maths that does not render
• Privacy requests, including a copy of your data or account deletion

In the quiz you can also tap Report on a bad question. That hides it from practice so we can review it.

This notice explains what CAPS Quiz collects and why. It applies to the iOS app, Android app, and website. We process personal information in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Information we collect

• If you sign in with Google: name, email address, profile photo, and a unique account id. We store these on your user profile so we can show your account and sync progress.
• Study progress: quiz scores, which questions you got right or wrong, Mathematics practice completions, daily answer counts, streak, and selected grade. Signed out, this stays on the device. Signed in, it is also saved to your cloud profile.
• Usage analytics: anonymous or pseudonymous events such as page views, quiz starts, answers, shares, and sign-in. When you are signed in we may attach your account id to these events so we can understand product use. We use Google Analytics / Firebase Analytics and Vercel Analytics.
• Support email: whatever you choose to send us, including device details you include in the message.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for your ID number, school name, phone number, payment card, or precise location. We do not sell personal information. Sign-in is optional.

How we use information

• Provide quizzes, past papers, and progress tracking
• Sync progress across devices when you sign in
• Fix bugs, review reported questions, and improve the product
• Respond to support and privacy requests

Third-party services

We use these providers to run the product:

• Google (Sign-In / Firebase Auth)
• Google Firebase (Firestore, Storage, Analytics)
• Google Analytics
• Vercel (hosting and analytics)
• Apple App Store and Google Play (distribution)

Those providers process data under their own privacy policies. Google Sign-In is handled by Google; we only receive the profile fields needed to create your CAPS Quiz account.

Children and learners

CAPS Quiz is built for South African Grade 10–12 learners, who are typically 15–18. It is not directed at children under 13. If you are under 18, please use the app with a parent or guardian’s knowledge. Parents or guardians can email us to review or delete a learner’s account.

Retention and security

Cloud profile and progress data are kept while your account exists. Device-only data stays until you clear app storage, uninstall the app, or reset stats in the product. We use standard cloud security from Firebase. No method of transmission is 100% secure.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you by emailing support@matricunlocked.co.za. You can also stop cloud storage by signing out; local progress on that device remains until you clear it.

If you signed in with Google, you can ask us to delete your CAPS Quiz account and cloud progress.

1. Email support@matricunlocked.co.za from the same Google address you use to sign in, or clearly state that address.
2. Use the subject line “Account deletion”.
3. We will delete your Firebase Auth account and the linked cloud profile (email, name, photo, grade, and saved progress). We aim to complete this within 7 days.

Deleting the cloud account does not automatically wipe data stored only on your phone. Uninstall the app or clear site data in the browser to remove local progress. Signing out without emailing us leaves your cloud copy in place until you sign in again or request deletion.

Analytics events already sent to Google or Vercel may remain in aggregated reports and are not always fully erasable.
