Privacy Policy

Depending on how you use the product, we may process:

• Account details (if you sign in): name, email address, profile photo, and a unique account id from Google Sign-In.
• Study progress: quiz scores, which questions you got right or wrong, Mathematics practice completions, daily answer counts, streak, and selected grade. When you are signed out, this stays on your device. When you are signed in, it is also saved to your cloud profile.
• Usage analytics: events such as page views, quiz starts, answers, shares, and sign-in. When you are signed in we may associate these events with your account id.
• Support messages: whatever you choose to include when you email us (for example device type or app version).

We do not ask for your ID number, school name, phone number, payment card details, or precise location. Sign-in is optional.

We use the information above to:

• Provide quizzes, past papers, progress tracking, and related features
• Sync progress across devices when you sign in
• Understand product use, fix bugs, review reported questions, and improve the service
• Respond to support and privacy requests

We do not sell personal information.

You can use CAPS Quiz without creating an account. If you choose Google Sign-In, we create a user profile so we can show your account and sync progress. Account fields typically include your name, email, photo URL, account id, selected grade, premium flag (if applicable), and saved study progress.

Google Sign-In is handled by Google. We only receive the profile fields needed to create and maintain your CAPS Quiz account.

We use analytics to understand how the apps and website are used — for example which screens are opened, when quizzes start, and whether answers are correct. This helps us improve reliability and learning features.

Analytics are provided through Google Analytics / Firebase Analytics and Vercel Analytics. App store platforms (such as Google Play or Apple) may also collect their own diagnostic or usage data under their policies when you install or use the apps.

We rely on third-party services to run CAPS Quiz. Depending on the feature and platform, these may include:

• Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Analytics)
• Google Analytics
• Google Sign-In
• Vercel (website hosting and analytics)
• Google Play and the Apple App Store (app distribution)
• Subscription or payment providers (for example Google Play Billing, Apple, or similar) where paid features or subscriptions are offered

These providers may process data under their own privacy policies. We only share what is needed to operate the relevant feature.

Device-only progress is stored locally on your phone or browser. Signed-in cloud profiles and progress are stored with Firebase. We use standard cloud security controls provided by these services. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Cloud profile and progress data are kept while your account exists. Device-only data stays until you clear app storage, uninstall the app, reset stats in the product, or clear site data in your browser.

To delete a signed-in account and linked cloud progress, use our delete account page: enter your registered email, confirm, and verify with Google Sign-In. You can also email support@matricunlocked.co.za from the Google address you use to sign in. We aim to complete emailed requests within 7 days. Analytics events already sent to Google or Vercel may remain in aggregated reports and are not always fully erasable.

CAPS Quiz is built for South African Grade 10–12 learners, who are typically 15–18 years old. It is not directed at children under 13. If you are under 18, please use the apps or website with a parent or guardian’s knowledge. Parents or guardians can email us to review or delete a learner’s account.

Subject to applicable law (including POPIA), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you by emailing support@matricunlocked.co.za. You can also stop cloud storage by signing out; local progress on that device remains until you clear it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date on this page. Continued use of the apps or website after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
